Tatuaje's Creature Set to Emerge from the Lagoon Later This Month

Jun 19, 2026

Creature

Tatuaje fans won't have to wait until Halloween season for the next addition to the legendary Monster Series. The company is preparing to release the long-awaited Creature, a cigar inspired by the classic horror film Creature from the Black Lagoon, with shipments expected to begin later this month.

While Creature falls under the broader Monster Series umbrella, it is not considered one of the original 13 core Monster Series releases. Even so, its packaging, presentation, and backstory make it a natural fit among one of the cigar industry's most celebrated limited-edition collections.

The new release measures 6 7/8 x 52 in a perfecto format and is crafted entirely from Nicaraguan tobaccos at My Father Cigars S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua. Each cigar carries an MSRP of $19.54, with production limited to 7,000 boxes of 10 cigars, making this another highly sought-after release for collectors and Monster Series enthusiasts alike.

According to an email distributed by New Havana Cigars, pre-orders are already underway, with shipments expected to begin reaching consumers by June 26.

For longtime Tatuaje followers, Creature's arrival may feel familiar. The cigar's appearance closely resembles the annual Monster Series releases that traditionally arrive each fall. Since debuting The Frank in 2008, Tatuaje's Monster Series has become one of the most successful and recognizable limited-edition cigar programs ever created. Each release draws inspiration from classic horror icons and literary monsters, helping build a loyal following that eagerly anticipates each year's release.

The original 13-cigar Monster Series storyline was completed in 2019, but the franchise continued through special samplers, reissues, and spin-off releases. Creature itself traces its origins to those sampler collections.

The character first appeared in 2021 as part of the Monster Mash sampler, where it was introduced as the Monster Mash Creature, a 5 3/8 x 48 cigar inspired by the iconic 1954 monster film. A second version followed in 2024 within the Monster Smash sampler, measuring 5 1/4 x 52.

This year's release marks the first time Creature will receive a full standalone production, complete with coffin-style packaging reminiscent of many of the Monster Series releases that helped establish the brand's cult following.

In recent years, Tatuaje has also revisited its original Monster Series through the Monster Series Redux program, re-releasing the full-size versions of the original monsters in the order they first appeared. Five of those cigars have already returned to market, with The JV13 expected to be next in line.

Beyond its significance as a new release, Creature also represents a notable milestone for the company. The cigar becomes the 101st Monster Series-related release produced by Tatuaje since the launch of The Frank nearly two decades ago.

With its combination of Monster Series history, limited production, and unique presentation, Creature is poised to become one of the more talked-about releases of the summer—and likely one that won't stay on retailer shelves for long.
