The Story Behind “The Red Pill”
The Red Pill continues Patina’s tradition of pairing thoughtful storytelling with refined craftsmanship. The box-pressed format pays homage to the Max Press cigar, a project Patina founder Moe Bandi created nearly ten years ago with friend Drew Brandt for the Sultans of Smoke Podcast.
“A ‘red pill’ symbolizes awakening to a deeper truth—challenging one’s understanding of reality,” said Bandi. “My own red pill moment came around 2009, during the Global Financial Crisis. Working as a contractor with the FDIC, I was part of teams closing banks across the U.S. That experience revealed profound truths about how the global financial system operates—and the systemic issues baked into it. My hope is that this cigar inspires people to look deeper into how the system works and to understand the forces driving today’s inflation and widening wealth gap.”
