Altadis Opens the Vault With New “Golden Four” Event-Exclusive Cigar Collection

New “Golden Four”

Altadis U.S.A. is reaching into its archives for a new limited cigar experience called The Golden Four, an assortment that cigar smokers won’t simply find sitting on their local retailer’s shelf.

Scheduled to begin appearing in September 2026, The Golden Four will be offered exclusively through participating Altadis U.S.A. retail events, making the collection as much about the experience of finding it as the cigars themselves.

Rather than introducing another traditional production line, Altadis is using The Golden Four to spotlight cigars pulled from the company’s vault and make them available through a limited event-based program.

The assortment contains four cigars, with availability tied specifically to qualifying in-store events. That limited distribution immediately separates The Golden Four from the company's normal portfolio and gives collectors and longtime smokers another reason to keep an eye on upcoming Altadis events at brick-and-mortar cigar shops.

Going Back Into the Vault

Altadis U.S.A. controls one of the largest portfolios of recognizable names in the premium cigar industry, with brands including Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta, H. Upmann and others under its umbrella.

That makes the “vault” portion of The Golden Four particularly intriguing.

Instead of simply launching four new blends into regular production, the concept gives Altadis an opportunity to revisit cigars, blends or projects that are not part of its everyday retail lineup.

For cigar enthusiasts, the unanswered question may be the most interesting one:

Exactly what has Altadis pulled out of the vault?

That mystery should make the participating events a destination for smokers interested in something beyond another standard production release.

An Event-Driven Release

The Golden Four is also notable for the way Altadis is choosing to distribute it.

Rather than shipping the collection nationwide and allowing retailers to place it on shelves, the company is tying availability to participating in-store events.

It is an approach that gives retailers something genuinely different to offer customers while encouraging smokers to visit their local cigar shops and participate in brand events.

As additional participating retailers and event dates are announced, availability will likely become one of the biggest parts of the story surrounding The Golden Four.

ChiTown Cigar Take

We see dozens of new cigar announcements every year, but The Golden Four has our attention because Altadis isn't giving smokers another straightforward release.

They're creating a hunt.

Four cigars. Pulled from the vault. Available only through selected events.

For collectors, longtime Altadis smokers and anyone curious about what the company has been keeping behind the curtain, that should make The Golden Four one of the more interesting event-exclusive releases to watch this fall.

ChiTown Cigar Podcast will continue following The Golden Four and update this story as Altadis announces participating retailers, event dates and additional information about the four cigars.
